Let’s Make Noise

Policies & governance

Accountable. Transparent. Safe.

Let’s Make Noise is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered in England and Wales (charity number 1212537). We are committed to the highest standards of governance, safeguarding and compliance, and to acting at all times in furtherance of our charitable objects and for the public benefit.

Governance

Our governance framework.

The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees who hold ultimate responsibility for its strategic direction, financial stewardship and legal compliance. Trustees act in accordance with our governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and the Charity Commission’s guidance, including The Essential Trustee (CC3).

Our policies are reviewed at least annually, or sooner where legislation, statutory guidance or operational circumstances require, and are approved by the Board of Trustees.

Our policies

Key policies and procedures.

Safeguarding and child protection

Safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk is our paramount responsibility. Our policy reflects the Children Act 1989 and 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children, and sets out clear procedures for recognising, recording and reporting concerns through our Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Safer recruitment and DBS

All staff and volunteers working with children and young people are subject to safer recruitment practices, including appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, references and safeguarding training, before undertaking any regulated activity.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to eliminating discrimination and advancing equality of opportunity in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. We welcome participants, staff and volunteers of every background, ethnicity, faith, disability, gender and sexual orientation.

Accessibility and reasonable adjustments

We make reasonable adjustments to ensure our programmes, venues and communications are accessible, taking account of each person’s sensory, physical, communication and learning needs, consistent with the principles of the SEND Code of Practice.

Data protection and privacy

We process personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Special category data, including information about health and disability, is handled with enhanced safeguards.

Photography and consent

Images of children and young people are only taken and published with informed written consent from a parent or carer, and the views of the young person. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Health, safety and risk assessment

We comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. Every activity, venue and day out is subject to a documented risk assessment, with appropriate supervision ratios, first aid provision and emergency procedures.

Complaints and feedback

We welcome feedback and treat every complaint seriously, fairly and confidentially. Complaints are acknowledged promptly, investigated impartially and responded to within defined timescales.

Whistleblowing

Staff, volunteers and trustees are encouraged to raise concerns about wrongdoing in good faith, and are protected from detriment in line with the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998.

Conflicts of interest, anti-fraud and anti-bribery

Trustees and staff must declare any actual or potential conflict of interest. We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to fraud and bribery in accordance with the Bribery Act 2010, and safeguard charitable funds through robust financial controls.

Code of conduct

All staff, volunteers and trustees are expected to uphold our values and act with integrity, professionalism and respect, maintaining appropriate boundaries in all interactions with children, young people and families.
